“A music theatre boy from a family of professional AFL players, I have an odd qualification in Queer culture and Footy culture, not to mention the strange things that happen when the two are awkwardly merged. As a child of divorce, I have extensive training in tension and conflict, and am well practised at finding the joke at all costs. Above all, I’m interested in stories of strong structural intelligence and psychological punch, which dance the line between comedy and tragedy.” –  Maverick Newman
