Eliza Scott is an interdisciplinary theatre-maker, writer, performer, choreographer, and sound artist. Their work blends live sound, movement, writing, and improvisation to create innovative, multi-sensory performances that explore themes of identity, perception, and connection. Eliza's practice moves fluidly between creating and performing their own work, collaborating with established theatre companies, and appearing as a professional actor in both theatre and film.
Eliza is currently completing their Masters in Theatre-Making at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), with graduation expected in December 2024. Throughout their career, they have participated in notable residencies with Gecko Theatre Company (UK, 2022 & 2024), Physical Lab (Greece, 2023), Force Majeure (2022), Brand X (2022), Griffin Theatre (2021) and Shopfront Arts Collective Artslab (2020).
Their recent work includes co-directing, devising, composing, and performing in the multi-disciplinary piece Lost Boys at the Seymour Centre in 2023, and co-creating Eugene with Force Majeure in 2022. Eliza’s acclaimed one-person show Pollon (KXT, 2021)—which they wrote, composed, and performed—earned them a nomination for a Sydney Theatre Award and a shortlisting for the Griffin Incubator Fellowship.
Eliza’s professional stage credits include roles such as performer and composer in The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (Sydney Theatre Company, 2022), writer and performer in Young & Gorgeous (Brand X, 2021), and assistant director for Symphonie Fantastique (KXT, 2021).
Eliza’s artistic approach is deeply rooted in the exploration of cross-artform practice, focusing on how movement and sound can be intertwined in live performance. They are passionate about challenging traditional boundaries and creating work that shifts audience perspectives. Eliza is also the recipient of the 2023/2024 Marten Bequest Scholarship.
‘Scott’s work is a big gamble: sincerely engaging, never too self-serious, never settling for an easy joke – but happy, too, to be playful.’ Sydney Morning Herald, POLLON 2021
One of the more entrancing works I’ve seen this year... Scott’s vocal shapeshifting, enhanced by live looping and pitch-shifting technology, is immersive, their physical presence compelling. Audrey Journal, POLLON 2021
