Tait de Lorenzo is a Sydney-based stage and screen director specialising in new and multidisciplinary performance.
Her stage direction and development credits include work for renowned companies such as Belvoir 25A, NIDA, Griffin, The Old 505, Sydney Chamber Opera, ACPA, AFTT, PACT Centre for Emerging Artists and Brand X.
Tait also has an extensive list of screen direction credits and frequently works as a commercial director’s assistant. Her debut documentary, UNTUCKED, received Best Documentary at the SMPTE Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2015.
As an associate, assistant and resident director, she has worked with the Michael Cassel Group, Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Chamber Opera, Opera Australia, Queensland Theatre Company and NIDA.
Tait is the recipient of numerous prestigious fellowships and residencies, including the Freddie J. Gibson Fellowship (NIDA 2023), the Incubator Fellowship (Griffin Theatre Company & Create NSW 2021), Resident Curator (PACT Centre for Emerging Artists 2020) and the Shut Down Residency (Belvoir 2020).
Tait has directed and curated live event programs for organisations such as Kaldor Public Art Projects, The Art Gallery of NSW, RIZER, For Film’s Sake Festival and PACT Centre for Emerging Artists.
Tait is the associate director of the groundbreaking production THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY (Michael Cassel Group, Kindred Partners and Sydney Theatre Company), which recently completed an Olivier award-winning run on London's West End at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. The production is set to premiere on Broadway in early 2025.
Tait regularly teaches at NIDA and AFTT.
